The James B. Moran Center for Youth Advocacy seeks a Director of Development & Communications to expand and sustain revenue streams from individual donors, foundations, corporate and governmental entities to meet the agency’s ever-expanding operational and programmatic needs, as well as to lead the agency’s marketing and communications strategy. The Director of Development & Communications serves as the primary fundraising and communications partner with the Executive Director and the Moran Center’s Board of Directors.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build donor relationships and manage overall fundraising efforts:
• Partner with the Executive Director to execute a “moves management” process with targeted current donors and prospective donors;
• Serve as the staff representative to the Moran Center’s Fundraising Committee;
• Create and execute an annual development plan with the Moran Center’s Fundraising Committee, reflecting the fundraising objectives set out in the Moran
Center’s 2021-2024 Strategic Plan;
• Lead donor relations activities (individual, foundation, government, and corporate);
• Establish and maintain a collaborative relationship with program staff, engaging them, as appropriate, in fundraising efforts;
• Oversee the donor database system (currently Neon), including related personnel; and
• Supervise grant writing, submission, and reporting, as well as personnel.
Coordinate fundraising events:
• Execute the Moran Center’s Annual Gala and burgeoning second annual fundraising event, as well as donor cultivation and appreciation events, including the annual Giving Circle Luncheon, by managing timelines, event budgets, external communications, and contractors, where necessary.
Lead marketing and communication efforts:
• Supervise marketing and communications strategy, as well as personnel.
• Direct the development of materials, content, and tools for raising funds, including the Moran Center’s website, quarterly e-newsletter, marketing brochures, social media platforms, etc.
• Coordinate all requests for print and electronic media for agency
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
• Understanding of and commitment to the Moran Center’s work and mission;
• Demonstrated commitment to racial justice;
• Minimum of 7 years fundraising experience;
• Ability to work cooperatively with and under the direction of the Executive Director;
• Creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture;
• Ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships;
• Outstanding communications skills, written and oral;
• Ability to multitask while maintaining vigilant attention to details;
• Comfort with ambiguity and a good sense of humor;
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced, highly collaborative and interactive office; and
• Experience with Microsoft Office, as well as donor management databases and marketing software.
SALARY-BENEFITS:
• $80,000-90,000 annualized salary;
